Not being funny, but thats pretty bad. The lighting is bad, the subject isnt centered or the focal point of the image and its been taken way to late and the frontal angle is plain and generic, and the subject is too far away.

The BMX-Forum's guide to being humiliated in 3 easy steps. Step number 1 - asking for an opinion...

poor guy. I think it looks alright, but i don't have a degree in photography evidently, which means you can disregard my opinion. Give the poor lad a break..there is such a thing as 'constructive' criticism.

centering the subject is the first way to produce a shit composition - there are many others but that'll set you off on the road nicely.

in this case you're way off to the right which results in an unbalanced image so it's not a good shot in that sense. the contrast is nice and I don't see a problem with the height etc. in an artistic sense but I would've moved the camera to the left and swung it right a bit myself to catch the rider a bit more side on and have him take up more of the picture.

good composition is about balance and drawing the eye in the direction you want it to go

google for golden ratio - it pretty much underpins everything

and don't argue - I might not use cameras but im a professional :)
almost immaculate 20.75 lofi frame in olive green for sale. pm for details as I can't be arsed digging the thread up.

Arty.

what are you doing? spine? hop in? megatucked 3 fakie(doubt it as your too low).

picture is a bit grainy too may have been due to editing it to make it B&W but maybe check ISO and adjust it till you are happy.(or whoever has the camera.)

Centered images only look right in certain circumstances. There's a thing called the rule of thirds for a reason.

It looks alright but it's nowhere near professional. Also you can barely tell what you're doing :/

Agreed, the reason is to include more than a single focal point, of which this image has none.

It's normally a good idea to only have one main point of focus and the rule of thirds helps that because your eye never naturally goes to the centre of an image. It normally goes straight to 1/3rd of the image, so if you put the main subject in one third of the image, your eye will normally go there straight away.

I tend to use the rule of thirds alot.

For example, on these images i've taken, where does your eye go straight to?

Normally goes straight to the rider, right? That's because I've put them in 1/3rd of the image.

Read this and you'll understand about composition.

http://digital-photo.../rule-of-thirds

I think the original poster has it spot on, however they should have panned a teenie bit to the right and maybe take a step to the left so you can tell what the rider is doing more. It's nowhere near professional though. The exposure is good too.

Good, yes ... professional, no.

Sorry for the long winded reply haha
